Weather Forecast: Hot Conditions Expected Across Yemen
The General Authority for Civil Aviation and Meteorology’s weather prediction center has issued a forecast for Friday, indicating hot and humid weather in coastal areas and nearby regions. The skies will remain mostly clear to partly cloudy, with a chance of scattered rain in parts of the eastern coastal areas and the Socotra Archipelago. Light to moderate winds will pick up around Socotra and parts of the southern coasts.
Mountainous Regions: Partly Cloudy with Thunderstorms
According to the daily weather report, which the Yemen News Agency (Saba) received, the mountainous regions will experience partly cloudy skies and moderate temperatures. There is a possibility of thunderstorms in various areas of the western and southwestern highlands. Meanwhile, desert and plateau regions will see generally dry weather, with partly cloudy skies. Daytime temperatures will be hot to extremely hot, while nights and early mornings will be moderate. Moderate to active winds will stir up dust and sand.
Temperature Predictions for Coastal and Desert Areas
The forecast for maximum and minimum temperatures on Friday in coastal areas is as follows:
- Aden: 39°C / 30°C
- Mukalla: 35°C / 29°C
- Hodeidah: 37°C / 32°C
- Socotra: 35°C / 28°C
- Mokha: 37°C / 30°C
- Al-Ghaydah: 34°C / 27°C
- Zinjibar: 38°C / 29°C
- Lahij: 41°C / 28°C
In desert and plateau areas, temperatures are expected to be:
- Sayun: 43°C / 25°C
- Marib: 39°C / 26°C
- Ataq: 38°C / 27°C
- Bayhan: 38°C / 26°C
For mountainous regions, temperatures will be:
- Sana’a: 31°C / 15°C
- Taiz: 33°C / 18°C
- Dhamar: 29°C / 11°C
- Al-Dhale: 32°C / 21°C
- Ibb: 29°C / 15°C
- Al-Bayda: 31°C / 16°C
Safety Recommendations for Citizens
The meteorological center urges citizens in desert and coastal areas to avoid direct sunlight during midday. High humidity in coastal regions may lead to elevated heat indices. Residents in areas expecting rain should follow safety precautions to protect against storms, lightning, and strong winds.
Marine Conditions: Caution for Fishermen
In its daily marine report, the center forecasts calm seas along the coasts of Shabwa, Abyan, Aden, Bab al-Mandab, and the western coasts. The waters off Hadramaut will be slightly to moderately choppy, while the coasts of Al-Mahra will experience moderate waves. The sea conditions in the Red Sea will remain calm, while the Gulf of Aden will see light to moderate waves. However, the Arabian Sea may experience moderate to rough conditions.
The center warns fishermen and sea-goers around the Socotra Archipelago and the Arabian Sea, as well as the eastern Gulf of Aden, to be cautious due to active winds and rough seas.
