Bahrain Hosts 167th Gulf Cooperation Council Ministerial Meeting

Today, the Kingdom of Bahrain welcomes the 167th session of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Ministerial Meeting. The meeting, chaired by Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, includes participation from foreign ministers of member states.

Significance of the Meeting and Discussions

GCC Secretary-General Jasem Al Budaiwi emphasized that the meeting will review reports on the implementation of decisions made during the 46th Gulf Summit held in Manama in December 2025. Additionally, the agenda includes discussions on memoranda and reports from ministerial and technical committees, as well as files related to dialogues and strategic relations with various countries and international blocs. The meeting will also address the latest regional and international developments relevant to the GCC.

Gulf-Canada Meeting to Enhance Cooperation

On the sidelines of the main meeting, the third joint ministerial meeting for strategic dialogue between the GCC and Canada will take place. Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand will attend this session, which aims to strengthen cooperation across multiple sectors.

Targeted Areas of Cooperation

The meeting will outline a joint action plan for the period from 2025 to 2029, identifying key priorities for collaboration between the GCC and Canada. These priorities include vital areas such as:

  • Politics and Security
  • Trade and Investment
  • Energy
  • Education and Health
  • Other Important Sectors

In addition to these areas, the meeting will discuss regional and international developments that concern both parties, further enhancing existing frameworks of cooperation.
