Minister Discusses Humanitarian Cooperation in Yemen

In a significant meeting held today in Aden, the Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Mokhtar Al-Yafai, engaged with Francesco Galiteri, the UN Population Fund representative in Yemen, and Amira Mahna, the Gender-Based Violence Program Officer. The discussions focused on enhancing collaborative efforts and developing humanitarian and developmental programs tailored to address the pressing needs of the Yemeni population.

Government Initiatives for Strengthening Partnerships

During the meeting, Minister Al-Yafai outlined the government’s strategies aimed at reinforcing partnerships with international organizations. He emphasized the critical importance of integrating roles in humanitarian work and development to improve intervention efficiency and expand geographical outreach. This strategy is designed to ultimately benefit the most vulnerable segments of the population.

The officials also deliberated on the transition from emergency responses to sustainable pathways that prioritize economic empowerment, capacity building, and the development of institutional mechanisms. This shift aims to foster long-term resilience within affected communities.

Expanding Humanitarian Support and Digital Transformation

Minister Al-Yafai commended the UN Population Fund’s significant role in delivering humanitarian assistance and expressed a desire to broaden the scope of interventions to encompass additional governorates. He highlighted the necessity of creating safe spaces and addressing critical community issues, particularly those related to gender-based violence. Empowering women and youth economically and providing genuine opportunities for labor market integration remain key priorities for the ministry.

Furthermore, Al-Yafai presented the ministry’s vision for digital transformation, stressing the importance of cohesive integration of social affairs and labor programs.
