Minister of Technical Education Discusses Cooperation with Japanese Ambassador
Strengthening Bilateral Relations
Today, Dr. Anwar Al-Mahri, Yemen’s Minister of Technical Education and Vocational Training, met with Japanese Ambassador Yuninchi Nakashima. They explored ways to enhance bilateral cooperation and develop a strategic partnership that supports Yemen’s development trajectory.
Ongoing Projects in Technical Education
During the meeting, they reviewed various projects supported by Japan, particularly in the technical and vocational education sector. Key initiatives include establishing and rehabilitating several technical institutes in the governorates of Aden, Taiz, and Lahij. Additionally, they discussed the importance of developing training programs tailored to meet labor market needs.
Importance of Technical Education for Economic Recovery
Minister Al-Mahri emphasized the need to activate support mechanisms and joint coordination in the upcoming phase. He highlighted that the technical and vocational education sector serves as a cornerstone for economic recovery and reconstruction amid the country’s challenging circumstances. The ministry plans to develop a comprehensive strategy to enhance technical education projects and prioritize them according to current demands.

The minister expressed gratitude for Japan’s assistance across various sectors, especially in service and development areas. He reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to strengthening institutional cooperation with international partners to ensure the sustainability of programs and projects, ultimately achieving a tangible impact on the ground.
Japanese Ambassador’s Commitment
In response, Ambassador Nakashima welcomed the opportunity to strengthen the strategic partnership with the Ministry of Technical Education and Vocational Training. He assured that the technical education sector will receive priority in Japan’s support programs through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). This collaboration aims to build the capacities of Yemeni professionals and bolster sustainable development efforts.
