The Republic of Yemen participated today in the 22nd session of the Executive Bureau of the Arab Media Ministers Council, held in Kuwait. The Yemeni delegation was led by Minister of Information Muammar Al-Eryani.
Minister Al-Eryani Delivers Greetings
In his address at the meeting, Minister Al-Eryani conveyed the greetings of President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, and his fellow council members. He also extended best wishes from Prime Minister Dr. Sha’if Al-Zandani to the participating delegations, hoping for a successful and fruitful meeting.
Yemen’s Commitment to Arab Cooperation
Minister Al-Eryani emphasized Yemen’s support for all efforts aimed at enhancing joint Arab work. He highlighted the significant challenges facing the region, which require a collective responsibility to develop a professional and conscious Arab media discourse. This discourse plays a crucial role in protecting communities from misinformation, combating hate speech and extremism, and promoting national values and the rule of law. Additionally, it must adapt to the rapid digital transformations occurring today.
The Role of Media in Society
Al-Eryani pointed out that media has evolved beyond merely reporting news; it now serves as a cornerstone in the battle for awareness. Media acts as a partner in safeguarding Arab identity and reinforcing security and stability across Arab nations.
Acknowledgment of Collaborative Efforts
The minister praised the efforts of the technical secretariat of the Arab Media Ministers Council, the Permanent Committee for Arab Media, and the expert teams associated with them. He reiterated Yemen’s commitment to collaborative mechanisms aimed at developing unified Arab strategies to counter systematic campaigns threatening the security and stability of their nations. Al-Eryani also expressed deep appreciation to the State of Kuwait—its leadership, government, and people—for their warm hospitality and excellent organization of the 104th session of the Permanent Committee and the 22nd session of the Executive Bureau.
