Justice for Victims of Violations in Hadhramaut

Governor’s Commitment to Accountability

Saeed Al-Khanbashi, a member of the Presidential Leadership Council and Governor of Hadhramaut, emphasized the commitment to justice for all individuals involved in the violations experienced by the province and its residents over the past years. He made this statement during a press conference held today in Mukalla, attended by the Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism, Moammar Al-Eryani, alongside representatives from local, regional, and international media, as well as various human rights organizations and activists.

Overview of Security Conditions

During the conference, Al-Khanbashi welcomed Minister Al-Eryani and the media delegation. He discussed the security situation in Hadhramaut following the incursion of forces led by Aidarus Al-Zubaidi, supported by the United Arab Emirates. He highlighted the serious crimes and violations that accompanied this military action. Al-Khanbashi outlined the measures taken to remove these forces and restore normalcy, aiming to end the UAE’s influence, which has operated under the guise of the Saudi-led coalition.

Disturbing Discoveries in UAE Bases

Al-Khanbashi expressed his dismay at the findings within UAE military bases, particularly around Al-Riyan International Airport. He reported the presence of equipment and materials unrelated to regular military operations, including explosives and dangerous components typically associated with terrorist groups. Additionally, he revealed the discovery of secret prisons at the locations where these forces were stationed.

International Support for Stability

The Presidential Council member reassured the international community that Hadhramaut, and Yemen as a whole, is making steady progress toward achieving security, stability, and development. He acknowledged the support from the Saudi-led coalition, particularly praising Saudi Arabia for a significant financial grant through the Saudi Program for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen, which will benefit Hadhramaut.

Local Authority’s Commitment to Victims

Al-Khanbashi reaffirmed the local authority’s dedication to providing comprehensive support to victims and their families. This includes legal, humanitarian, and psychological assistance to ensure their rights are restored. He stressed that achieving justice for victims remains a top priority.

Zero Tolerance for Violators

He stated, “We will not tolerate any individual or entity proven to be involved in these violations. The rights of victims will remain protected until justice is served according to the law.”

Call for Media and Human Rights Engagement

In his remarks, Minister Al-Eryani indicated that the government would present all evidence documenting the violations faced by the people of Hadhramaut and Yemen at large. He urged media outlets and human rights organizations to visit the sites of these violations and the secret prisons operated by the UAE in Hadhramaut. He also highlighted the work of the counter-terrorism unit trained under the supervision of the Saudi-led coalition forces.

This commitment to justice and accountability marks a significant step toward healing and rebuilding trust within the community of Hadhramaut.
