Governor of Hadhramaut Engages Political and Social Leaders Ahead of Southern Dialogue Conference

In a significant move towards fostering unity and representation, Salim Ahmed Al-Khanbashi, a member of the Presidential Leadership Council and Governor of Hadhramaut, convened a comprehensive meeting in Mukalla today. This gathering included representatives from various political parties, social figures, civil society organizations, and youth and women’s groups. The meeting aimed to prepare for the upcoming Southern Dialogue Conference scheduled to take place in Riyadh.

The meeting featured prominent attendees, including the First Deputy Governor Amr bin Habresh, Deputy Governor Hassan Al-Jailani, and several members of the House of Representatives and the Shura Council. Governor Al-Khanbashi emphasized the necessity of unifying Hadhramaut’s vision and ensuring fair representation that aligns with the region’s political and economic significance.

Formation of a Preparatory Committee

During the discussions, the governor called for the establishment of a preparatory committee tasked with drafting a comprehensive document. This document will outline the requirements and aspirations of various factions, aiming for consensus among diverse groups.

The meeting also addressed critical topics, including the enhancement of Hadhrami identity, the importance of unity, and the need for openness to different components of society. At the conclusion of the meeting, attendees empowered Governor Al-Khanbashi to form the preparatory committee and lead the efforts for participation in the comprehensive Southern Dialogue.
