UN reports that 3 million Syrian refugees are expected to return following the departure of President Assad.

UN Reports Significant Return of Syrian Refugees
On Monday, Filippo Grandi, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, announced that approximately 3 million Syrian refugees have voluntarily returned to their homeland since the departure of former President Bashar al-Assad’s government last year.
Need for Massive Investment in Reconstruction
Grandi emphasized that Syria requires substantial investments for reconstruction. These investments are crucial for creating job opportunities and providing essential services to citizens. He highlighted the importance of international support to ensure a stable return and facilitate the country’s recovery.
Urgent Call for Continued International Support
In an official statement released this month, the UN Refugee Agency noted that the fall of the previous regime has created a rare opportunity for peace and stability. The agency reported that the number of returning displaced individuals has already surpassed 3 million refugees. However, it also warned of the urgent need for ongoing international assistance to ensure the sustainability of these returns.
The situation remains delicate, and the international community’s role is vital in supporting Syria’s path toward recovery and stability.
