On Thursday, Prime Minister Salem Saleh bin Breek witnessed the signing of a significant memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing electrical energy projects in Yemen. This agreement involves the Ministry of Electricity and Energy, the Saudi Program for Development and Reconstruction of Yemen, and Gulf International Energy Company.

Objectives of the Memorandum

The MoU, signed in the presence of Saudi Ambassador Mohammed bin Saeed Al Jaber, outlines a collaborative effort among the three parties. The primary goal is to implement various developmental projects in the electrical energy sector. These initiatives will establish strategic power stations in key locations, including Aden, Mukalla, Sayoun, and Taiz, with an initial production capacity of 300 megawatts.

Engineer Mani Ben Yameen, Yemen’s Minister of Electricity and Energy, signed the agreement on behalf of Yemen.
