The Republic of Yemen took part today in the opening of the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30) held in Belém, Brazil. Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva inaugurated the event, which welcomed representatives from 198 countries.
Yemen’s Negotiation Agenda
Engineer Tawfiq Al-Sharjabi, Yemen’s Minister of Water and Environment, emphasized that the Yemeni delegation carries a comprehensive negotiation agenda. This agenda focuses on enhancing climate financing, increasing Yemen’s share of international funds, and supporting adaptation projects in critical sectors such as water, agriculture, and renewable energy.
Call for International Support
Al-Sharjabi urged the international community to continue supporting adaptation programs and projects. He highlighted the importance of building national capacities to effectively address the impacts of climate change.
