In a troubling incident, armed individuals believed to be affiliated with the Houthi militia’s security and intelligence forces kidnapped local resident Khalil Al-Aqab from the Al-Ma’ayan neighborhood in northern Ibb. This occurred after Al-Aqab refused to comply with demands to remove a surveillance camera from his home.
Details of the Abduction
Local sources reported that Al-Aqab was taken on the afternoon of the day before yesterday. He was stripped of his personal weapon, dagger, vehicle, and mobile phones before being led away to an unknown location. Despite his family filing an official report, a militia-affiliated intelligence agency halted the search for him.
Possible Motives Behind the Kidnapping
Sources indicated that Houthi elements had recently moved from northern Yemen and settled near Al-Aqab’s home. They attempted to force him to turn off the surveillance camera, suggesting that this demand may have been a primary motive for his abduction.
