Global Day Against Drugs Concludes in Abyan

The Abyan Governorate’s Anti-Drug Department marked the Global Day Against Drugs with a closing ceremony held at the Rose Hall in Zinjibar, the capital of Abyan.

A Unified Effort Against Drug Abuse

Under the theme “Despite Challenges, We Will Overcome Drugs,” the Anti-Drug Department collaborated with the Empowerment for Sustainable Development Foundation and the Good Ambassadors Foundation. This partnership, along with coordination from various government offices—including Social Affairs, Endowments and Guidance, Public Health and Population, and Youth and Sports—led to a series of impactful events. From July 3 to July 13, 2025, the initiative included awareness campaigns, sports activities, seminars, discussion panels, field visits, and inspection campaigns.

Support from Law Enforcement

Colonel Abdul Nasser Qanan, Director of Criminal Investigation, emphasized the unwavering support from the Governor of Abyan for the Anti-Drug Department. He reiterated the importance of combating drug threats that endanger communities.

Police Commitment to Combat Drug Issues

In his remarks, Major Alaa Farwa, Deputy Director of the Anti-Drug Department, highlighted the dedicated efforts of police officers to curb the spread of drug abuse. Their commitment plays a crucial role in protecting the community.

Community Organizations Stand Together

Jawaher Bahila, President of the Empowerment for Sustainable Development Foundation, delivered a speech on behalf of civil society organizations. She stressed the importance of unity among all stakeholders in the fight against drugs.

Recognizing Contributions

During the ceremony, several executive offices and active civil society organizations received certificates of appreciation. These awards recognized their significant contributions and participation in anti-drug activities.

This event showcased a collective commitment to addressing drug-related challenges, reinforcing the message that through collaboration, communities can triumph over adversity.
