The Minister of Information stated that Houthi raids and abductions of academic and professional talents in Ibb reveal a state of fear.

Minister Condemns Houthi Attacks on Civilians in Ibb
Severe Violations by Houthi Militias
The Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism, Muammar Al-Eryani, has strongly condemned the recent actions of the Iran-backed Houthi militias. These groups conducted raids on civilian homes in Ibb Governorate, resulting in the arbitrary abduction of dozens of citizens, including academics, doctors, teachers, and lawyers.
Targeting Community Leaders
In a press statement, Al-Eryani highlighted that these arrests represent a continuation of the Houthis’ campaign against skilled professionals who are vital to society. The militias aim to impose ignorance and oppression as tools of governance, effectively draining educational and healthcare institutions of their qualified personnel. This strategy serves their dark agenda and Iranian interests.
Notable Abductions
Al-Eryani pointed out that the militias kidnapped prominent academic Abdullah Mahyoub Al-Saeedi after surrounding his home in Dar Al-Sharaf. They also detained engineer Hamoud Al-Shahari and several teachers from Habish District, including Hashim Al-Darqami, Silan Al-Nahmi, Amin Al-Jailani, and Jamil Al-Minhami. Additionally, doctors Ahmed Yasin, Sadiq Al-Yousufi, and Mahmoud Yasin, along with lawyer Faisal Abdullah Al-Shuwai, were also arrested. These actions reveal the climate of fear that the militias perpetuate, as they strive to silence all dissenting voices in their controlled areas.
Systematic Terrorization of Society
Al-Eryani emphasized that these violations form part of a systematic policy by the Houthi militias to terrorize the Yemeni community and enforce compliance through force. Their tactics include invading homes, abducting innocent individuals, terrorizing women and children, and extorting families with the threat of detaining their loved ones. This approach seeks to eliminate any space for free expression or professional activity, contributing to a broader plan to dismantle societal structures and establish a regime based on fear and oppression.
Call for International Action
Al-Eryani urged the international community and human rights organizations to fulfill their legal and moral responsibilities. He called for condemnation of the systematic violations committed by the Houthis against civilians in Ibb and other Yemeni provinces, which blatantly violate international laws and norms.
Demand for Terrorist Designation
Furthermore, Al-Eryani called for urgent action to classify the Houthi militias as a terrorist organization. He advocated for stricter sanctions, including asset freezes and cutting off their funding sources, as well as pursuing the leaders responsible for these crimes. He also emphasized the need to support the legitimate government in its efforts to restore state authority across Yemen, ensuring the protection of citizens and halting ongoing violations against them.
