A New Partnership for Water Access
Today, in the temporary capital of Aden, Minister of Water and Environment, Engineer Tawfiq Al-Sharjabi, signed a cooperation agreement with the international organization "Muslim Hands." This agreement aims to implement a project focused on rehabilitating water sources in the Jihin and Al-Jaadi areas of the Lawdar district in Abyan Governorate.
Project Goals and Beneficiaries
The project seeks to enhance access to safe and sustainable drinking water for approximately 10,000 beneficiaries in both regions. Key initiatives include restarting a well in Al-Jaadi that has been inactive for over a decade. Additionally, the project will increase the production capacity of Well No. 2 in Jihin to about 226 cubic meters per day.
Comprehensive Works in Jihin
In Jihin, the project will involve extensive work, including the supply and installation of a submersible pump along with its motor and accessories. Furthermore, the project will establish a complete solar energy system to operate the pumping unit and rehabilitate the well room.
The plan also includes installing a horizontal pumping unit to feed the project’s second-phase reservoir. To ensure water safety, the project will incorporate a chlorine injection system and provide training for the community committee on project operation and management, ensuring its sustainability.
Improvements in Al-Jaadi
