Minister Discusses Collaboration with CIHEAM Bari Director
Today, in the Italian city of Bari, Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Fisheries, Major General Salem Al-Saqtri, met with Maurizio Railey, the Director of the International Center for Advanced Mediterranean Agricultural Studies (CIHEAM Bari). The two leaders explored ways to enhance mutual cooperation between Yemen and the center.
Fostering Educational Partnerships
During their discussions, Al-Saqtri and Railey focused on establishing bilateral relations, particularly in the areas of training and education for Yemeni students and specialists. The aim is to leverage the center’s expertise to improve skills in various agricultural fields.
Yemen’s Commitment to Sustainable Agriculture
Minister Al-Saqtri emphasized Yemen’s desire to collaborate with CIHEAM Bari. He highlighted the importance of utilizing the center’s extensive knowledge to strengthen institutional capacities in sustainable agriculture. This includes effective resource management, integrated coastal area management, fisheries, aquaculture, and plant and animal health.
Al-Saqtri praised the center’s programs and activities, noting that they play a crucial role in enhancing higher education and applied research in the region.
CIHEAM Bari’s Support for Collaboration
In response, Railey expressed his readiness to facilitate the necessary arrangements for initiating a bilateral partnership. He emphasized the importance of creating a collaborative framework that benefits both parties.
This meeting marks a significant step towards fostering agricultural development and educational opportunities in Yemen, paving the way for a fruitful partnership with CIHEAM Bari.
